THE FOUNDER OF MAZOUN GROUP
Sheikh Yaqoob bin Hamad Al Harthy was born in Mudhaireb, Al Sharqiyah Region, Sultanate of Oman. He is also the honorary consul of the Sultanate of Oman to the Republic of Mexico. Sheikh Yaqoob is a statesman and diplomat of Oman.
The Establishment of the Mazoun Group of Companies
In 1971, Sheikh Yaqoob founded the Mazoun Group of Companies. It has interests in industries such as:

Previous Responsibilities of Sheikh Yaqoob
In the past 37 years, sheikh Yaqoob has held various posts in both the government and private sectors. These experiences were good opportunities for him to achieve a number of his hopes in line with development of the government and private sectors in Oman and the development of the quality of life and the economic situation of Omani citizens.

Achievements
During this period, the Chamber of Commerce and industry has many achievements such as:

The foundation of the College of Administrative Sciences for the private sector. This was the first Ahliya college in Oman that specialized in the administrative sciences. The college was founded in order to provide the country with academic and professional dynamism that would produce a generation of Omanis well versed in the administrative sciences who would replace foreign manpower.

The opening of two representative offices of Oman Chamber of Commerce' and industry (OCCI) in Taiwan and South Africa. These were the 1st representative offices of the OCCl to be open outside the country in order to expand The horizons of Omani commerce and develop the Commercial relation of Oman with external markets that would help in the adaptation of the Chamber with the changes in the international economy.
